26 x 21cm. Twenty paperback volumes, various pagination. Published between October 1986 and August 1994. Four issues shy of a consecutive run (Nos. 11, 17, 20 and 23 are absent). Edited by K. Michael Hays, with the first issue inscribed by the editor "For Robert with warmest regards" [i.e. architect Robert Maxwell]. Very well illustrated and eclectic journal with an editorial board including Stanford Anderson, Sanford Kwinter, Francoise Choay, Mario Gandelsonas, Jorge Silvetti, Werner Oechslin, Beatriz Colomina, Mark Rakatansky, Mark Wigley, Robert McAnulty, Jennifer Bloomer, etc. Consulting editors include Mary McLeod, Mark Rakatansky, Ellen Shapiro, Catherine Ingraham, etc. The journal covered the era of adventurous architectural theory with its crossovers between disciplines, but by the final issue in 2000 (not included here), the editor lamented a perceived "anti-intellectual current" prevailing across design schools and asked "to what extent has recent architecture theory played a role in its own demise?" A very good set of this important journal.
