Bulino su matrice di rame, impresso su carta vergellata priva di filigrana e databile alla prima metà del XVI sec. Monogrammata e datata 1507 su un cippo in basso a sinistra. Stato unico, seconda variante su tre (Meder 14 b/c). Piccolissimi margini, ma presenti ovunque. Ottimo esemplare dalla nitida e freschissima inchiostratura, in eccellente stato di conservazione. PANOFSKY 121 - Il formato della Passione incisa differisce da quello della Piccola Passione silografica per quella che si potrebbe definire una snellezza aristocratica di proporzioniehellip; Non si ritenne necessario alcun testo, poiché non era concepito come un libro edificante, ma piuttosto come un elsquo;oggetto da collezioneersquo;, da gustare da parte degli amanti dellersquo;arte anziché dei devotiehellip; Sottolinea la sofferenza spirituale piuttosto che la tortura fisica e non perde mai di vista la dignità preterumana di Cristoehellip; Engraving on laid paper without watermark, datable to the mid-16th century.
