5"x7" and 4"x7" 730 fine black and white photographs of locomotives around the United States. Each photograph is identified and some with date taken. These historic photographs were hand produced on fiber silver coated paper-no pixels. Photos are printed of steam and diesel trains, electric street cars and interurbans railways. Carter, as high school student, began to work in a photo studio earning money to get through school and college. World War II broke out, and he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. After the war, he returned home and bought a photo studio. His interest in the steam locomotive as a boy gave him interest in photographing the steam locomotive as it was being replaced by the Diesel locomotive. Those photos have been published in many railroad books and obtained by many museums. A marvelous collection for the train enthusiast.
