Teall for certain of his little friends, and their appreciation of them leads him to take pleasure in this propagation of the idea of The Child's Book-Plate.' (from text). At the end of the essay, Teall notes that he has personally designed and printed all nine of the samples included in the book. Gardner C. Teall (1878 - 1905) was a writer and artist, formerly editor of Good Housekeeping magazine and director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Public Library.
