2 volumes, 8vo, pp. [32], 264, [2]; [24], 191, [15]; text and illustrations engraved throughout by Pine, including frontispieces, plates, head- and tail-pieces, in-text vignettes, and decorated initials; contemporary full calf, smooth gilt-decorated spines laid out in 6 compartments, red morocco label in 1, a.e.g., pink silk book marker; corners worn, small crack starting at the top of the upper joint on both volumes, the text in volume II slightly toned; all else very good, clean, and sound. Engraved armorial bookplates in each volume of Mareschal Marchionis de Bievre (1719-1747), and the later memorial bookplate of Caroline Furness Jayne, and with her initials in pencil on the flyleaf of the second volume. "Complete edition of the works of Horace, illustrated from gems and other antiquities, and the whole work engraved on copper plates." This is the second issue with the with error 'post. est.' on the vignette at the top of p. 108 of volume II corrected to 'pot. est,' and without the 'List of Antiques,' as usual.
