First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author to his biographer and bibliographer, David A. Jasen, "To David best wishes P. G. Wodehouse", to the front free endpaper. Cocktail Time is the third novel of Frederick Twistleton, Earl of Ickenham, otherwise known as Uncle Fred. David A. Jasen (1937-2022), ragtime scholar, performer, and a leading Wodehouse authority, shared a passion for music with the prolific humourist who was also famed during his lifetime as a musical lyricist. Jasen produced multiple groundbreaking publications on Wodehouse, and his personal bond with the author was immortalized when Jasen became the dedicatee of Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (1963). Jasen 80a; McIlvaine A81b. Octavo. Original pink quarter cloth, black sides, spine lettered in black and green, blind device of Uncle Fred to front cover, top edge green. With dust jacket. A couple of small bumps to edges; jacket spine sunned, small chips to spine ends, a couple of nicks, unclipped: a near-fine copy in very good jacket.
