Advance copy of his breakthrough book, of the initial print run of 4,000 copies, 500 were issued in wrappers presumably for review, the original dust jacket illustrated by Ruth Gannett is wrapped around the book and glued at the spine, this was Alice B. Toklas's copy, Inscribed by her ("From Alice B. Toklas/Paris, March 1945"), Toklas of course was Gertrude Stein's significant other and author of a notorious brownie recipe, Goldstone & Payne A4a, Morrow 28. Spine area a bit toned and faded, very good.
