Nepalese-Indian mountaineer Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986) was part of the 1953 British Mount Everest expedition, on which he and Sir Edmund Hillary were the first climbers to confirm reaching the summit. He took part in seven expeditions to Everest in total, and from 1954 to 1976 was Director of Field Training at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling. This autobiography was written in collaboration with Malcolm Barnes.
