Provenance: accompanied is a short note written by Catherine Richards who was editorial assistant at Pan Macmillan between 2009 and 2017. The book was signed by Wilbur in her presence. The author moved from his first publishing house Heinemann to Macmillan in the late 1980s. Condition: a near fine book with clean boards and light shelf wear only. No cracks to the spine, and lettering vibrant and not rubbed. Very light foxing to top page block only. No previoius owner s scribbles, no bookplates, no stamps. Internally clean. The dust jacket is, like the vast majority of specimen, price clipped. Light browning to the spine. The scarce true first edition novel which launched Wilbur s stellar writing career. First and Fine
