Landell Bartlett (1897-1972) was primarily an editor (but also a minor science fiction writer) from Colorado. He's best known for his 1928 chapbook Vanguard of Venus which came with a 1928 issue of Amazing Stories. A Landell Bartlett Archive. Comprising: [1] Moonfoam and Sorceries by Stanley Mullen, number one of 1000 copies issued. A little wear to the jacket, some chips and tears, and general signs of age. The book is signed by both Mullen and Roy Hunt, the illustrator. Additionally inscribed by the author to LB and his wife. With an additional ANS laid in. [2] The Immortal Storm, first edition inscribed by Moskowitz to LB. A little dustiness and edgewear. [3] Misc. Letters relating to conventions etc. mostly ALS. [4] A small archive of material related to a radio presentation of 'Vanguard of Venus', comprising (i) 22pp typescript, letter paper, single-sided, probably 2nd copy with a few pencil annotations (ii) Civic Players Theater of the Air, May 7, 1950: another adaptation of VoV, 20pp typescript, with some crayon annotations (iii)16pp typescript of the same for the same production as (ii) (and probably (i). (iv) 11pp typescript in card covers, probably top copy. (v) Holograph ms of the same, 15pp, single-sided on toned paper, stapled. (vi) two further copies of the same, typescripts, dated May 7, 1950. 16pp, rectos only. [5] Errand's End, a typescript for an unpublished work, 7pp, rectos only, stapled in card covers (stained cover). [6] Heroes for a Day, a typescript for an unpublished work, rectos only, stapled in card covers. [7] Coma Berenices, two typescripts for an unpublished work (actually published in the Gorgon fanzine), seemingly offered as part of a contest. Each with a couple of TLS laid in. 9pp each. [8] Misc papers relating to a Margaret Bourne, and a text 'Benito Cereno' unknown at this point how it's related to the archive. [9] The God of Cerro Canyon. Original holograph ms in card wrappers, with staples removed. 40pp single-sided with 3pp synopsis at the end. [10] Navassa Night. Original holograph ms. c20pp, main story seems to be around 12pp, with additional sheets numbered, so maybe redrafts. 2pp of these are synopsis. [11] Bartlett's own copy of 'The Vanguard of Venus' privately bound in cloth boards. Gilt work heavily rubbed. ALS laid down from Richmond C E Lawlor, who seems to have illustrated the 1954 reprint of VoV. Ownership signature from the author. [12] Bartlett's own copy of VoV, the reprint issue of 1954 from Experimenter Publishing. One of 100 copies issued. [13] Venus Vanquished, two typescripts. One 47pp with corrections, the other 31pp without corrections. The latter bound in card covers. VV was published in the Gorgon fanzine edited by Stanley Mullen. [14] Venus Operation, holograph manuscript. 39pp manuscript, with corrections. In card covers. [15] 7x9 Portrait photograph of LB [16] 18th Worldcon Programme with a couple of TLS laid in and a few leaves of the original VoV [17] Copyright info presumably for an anthology LB was editing. [23] Typescript for VoV. 8pp, single-sided. Unclear if this is prior to the publication as a complimentary chapbook with Amazing Stories in 1928, or after. It has various blurbs from other writers etc. in the typescript, so certainly not the first draft. Perhaps prepared for the 1954 reissue? [24] A selection of letters and ephemera related to the 1928 publication, several from the Amazing off
