SINGLE LEAF FROM A MISSAL, IN LATIN, MANUSCRIPT ON PARCHMENT [French Scribe] Medieval & Renaissance Manuscripts

A single leaf on parchment, c. 345 x 266 mm, from a Missal with a partial decorated border. This leaf is ruled in ink, c. 223 x 168 mm (ruled), for two columns of twenty-eight lines with gothic script in brown ink in two different sizes, rubrics in red ink, with twenty-one two-line initials in gold on blue and mauve grounds with white highlights. The recto containing a three sided partial border outlined in red ink, complete with vines in black ink with gold disks, strawberries in red and white, and flowers rendered in blue, red, white and pink with green and gold leaves. Modern pencil notation to the upper and lower border of the recto, '3500' and 'SAN2533100.' The first illuminated initial to the recto opens with the cantus 'Sacerdotes tui d[omi]ne induant justitiam et sancti tui exsultent p[ro]pter David', 'Let your priests, O Lord, be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints rejoice because of David'.
