Scarce limited edition of 200 hand-numbered, letterpress-printed copies. Signed by the author, Neil Gaiman, and the illustrator, Rovina Cai, who has contributed 16 newly commissioned colour plates and over 25 black and red silhouettes. This numbered edition is bound in full black Morocco goatskin with a foil blocked 'red thread' design spanning the entirety of the cover. The title is foil blocked in gold on the spine. This stunning edition features tipped in colour plates, silhouette endpapers and a silk ribbon marker. The top page edges are printed red. The book is enclosed in a cloth-capped slipcase with a wrap of marbled paper by Freya Scott of Paperwilds. The outside of the slipcase is blocked with two passes of black and red foil, depicting one of Rovina Cai's silhouettes. The inside is lined with black suedel. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. The thread is described as black in the book but a different colour was needed for the illustrations in the Lyra's Books limited editions as the silhouettes would be black too, so Neil Gaiman was asked if the description of the black thread could be changed to red. He graciously agreed that his text could be changed and said: ''I like it very much. I think rather than be polite, we should call it 'Coraline: The Red Thread Edition' and lean into the fact that this Lyra's Books edition is the only one in which the thread is red and not black''. This is a new copy opened only to photograph and check for flaws, of which there are none. It will be shipped in the original high-quality protective packaging. HEAVY/OVERSIZE/HIGH VALUE. U.K. postage at default charge but overseas buyers may be asked for extra. Enquiries welcome. All orders professionally packed, tracked and/or signed for, and insured. U.S. BUYERS: Books remain exempt from import duty under U.S. law. I provide accurate customs forms to protect buyers from unnecessary charges and to minimise delays.
