Believed to be John Rhodes + 128 pages, full contemporary blind stamped panel calf, hinges just showing and rubbed at edges and corners, nothing before the title page, but title page signature is A1, so blank endpaper lacking, ully collated as COMPLETE. A hand written note from 1975 states the brief history of the ownership of the book, in Ashford in Kent owned by a Henry Headley 1824-1909 and before that to a Mr William Knight of Chelmsford. NOTE. This copy has its original publishes "page marker" a small very ephemeral piece issued when new with a patterned paper marker on a piece of string In almost 50 years I have never seen another and I doubt another exists. NOTE* A very scarce 1st edition, with a copy in Oxford and another the British Library, but mostly e-book format in institutional libraries worldwide. No copies have come up for sale for approx 20+ years, no other copies online at time of listing. BIOG: He was an English writer, theologian, religious thinker, and influential Quaker who founded the Province of Pennsylvania during the British colonial era and which keeps his name alive. An advocate of democracy and religious freedom, Penn was known for his amicable relations and successful treaties with the Lenape Native Americans who had resided in present-day Pennsylvania prior to European settlements there, etc, etc. He died in Berkshire in 1718
