2 volumes, 4to, pp. [12], lxxx, 690, [4]; [4], 842, [2]; Latin and French on facing pages; engraved vignette title pages printed in red and black, engraved frontispiece in volume I, 1 other engraved plate, engraved headpieces, woodcut ornaments and initials; ca. 1800 full speckled calf, smooth gilt-decorated spines laid out in 6 compartments, black calf labels in 1, maroon numbering pieces in another (one missing); both lower joints cracked, upper joints starting; all else very good, sound, and clean. Engraved armorial bookplate in each volume of Sir John E. Swinburne, Capheaton. First Sanadon edition, shared with at least two other Paris publishers. "Very respectful . Sanadon, who was a much better interpreter of Horace than either Du Hamel or Dacier, has diligently consulted the old commentators; but chiefly followed Bentley and Cunningham, especially the later" (Dibdin).
