The Health & Strength magazine was one of the most influential early fitness and bodybuilding publications in the world and a key part of British physical culture history.First published in 1894, it became the world s longest-running fitness magazine, lasting well into the 1980s. "Official organ of the Health and Strength League." The League was formed in Britain in 1906 as a "physical culture" / fitness organization. It published Health & Strength magazine, organized physique contests, and was instrumental in the founding of NABBA (National Amateur Body-Builders Association) around 1950. In 1948, the League organised the first "Mr Universe" event, which later transitioned into the NABBA Mr Universe contests. The magazine proved to be very popular, reaching 750,000 subscriptions after just 3 years.
