First edition, inscribed by the author on the first blank, "Jessica, Love, Roald Dahl". His last major book, Matilda won the Children's Book Award in 1989. It formed the basis for both the 1996 film directed by Danny DeVito and the successful stage musical which premiered at the RSC's Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in November 2010.
