Together 16 original sepia photographs, each approx. 14 x 9cm., identified in pencil by hand to versos and several with captions, slight toning to margins but otherwise in very good condition, corner-mounted in a contemporary album, paper boards, in very good condition. Sir Bernard Rawdon Reilly (1882-1966) served British interests in Aden from before the First World War, becoming Governor in 1937 when Aden became a British colony. These photographs record the visit to Aden of Harold Ingrams, who himself had served as Political Agent in Aden from 1934-7, and at the time of his visit was British Resident Adviser at Mukalla, South Arabia. The photographs show Ingrams' arrival by boat, scenes in Aden, a "consular meeting" (by the roadside!), inspection of a parade (seven images), Reilly and Ingrams together at a table, and a view of Reilly's garden.
