Who's Who in Australia : 30-volume collection 1941 - 2004 Various Australian Politics

This collection comprises an unbroken run of 30 volumes from Edition 11 (1941) to Edition 40 (2004). The collection comprises: Edition 11 (1941) to Edition 22 (1977) publisher: The Herald Press (12 volumes); Edition 23 (1980)to to Edition 26 (1988) publisher: Herald and Weekly Times (4 volumes); Edition 27 (1991) to Edition 37 (2001) publisher: Information Australia (11 volumes); Edition 38 (2002) to Edition 40 (2004) publisher: Crown Content (3 volumes). Fourteen volumes carry the bookplate of Sir John Young [John McIntosh Young], the former Victorian chief justice 1974-91 (and the officer in charge of the guards that nabbed Rudolf Hess after he attempted to escape or commit suicide). There are three versions of his bookplate, showing the progression in his entitlement to arms. One volume (1944) has the bold ink signature of Sir Keith Murdoch on the front free endpaper. The condition of the collection reflects the age of the individual volumes. The recent editions are Fine - with only very minor marks and indications of use. Most from 1991 have dustwrappers. The volumes from 1955 to 1988 are overall Very Good to Near Fine, but some show age fading, especially on the spine, edge and corner wear and there is the natural age toning of the paper. The copies for 1941-1950 show more wear and the the boards of the 1947 edition are somewhat bowed due, presumably, to having been exposed to damp or a liquid spill at some time which has also affected sections of the cloth. The collection overall remains in remarkably well preserved condition. There are some pencil notations mainly on the prelims, but the contents overall remain very good with a few minor marks.
