John Baker Holroyd, 1st Earl of Sheffield, (1735-1821) "was an Anglo-Irish politician and soldier. He was a leading authority on agriculture and commerce and appointed President of the Board of Agriculture in 1803. He is also remembered as the close friend and patron of eminent historian Edward Gibbon, to whom he acted as literary executor and editor" (Wikipedia). He was married to Constantina Grierson (née Crawley; ca. 1705-1732), a poet and classical scholar who is known to have edited editions of Terence, Tacitus, and Virgil, all of which were published by her husband. Is it not unreasonable to expect that she may have had a least a hand in editing this edition of Horace? Mills College Check List 463; not in Riedel-Horatiana.
