Privately published in New York in 1934, 176 pages, large hardcover in pebbled boards, 11.25" by 9". Frontispiece photo of the Company's President, Leonor Loree, across from title page. Ultra-rare publication on this New York-based steel firm using low-phosphorous Adirondack iron ore, the mining operation based in Lyon Mountain until closure in 1967. Lyon Mountain's iron one was highly prized, employed in the construction of both the Brooklyn and Golden Gate bridges. This history was compiled by the then-Vice President of the company for the annual inspection trip of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad's Board of Directors. The history of the company is detailed, along with technical information and business statistics, alongside dozens of full-page black and white photos of the operations and the local towns of Chateaugay and Lyon Mountain. Also included, inside the front cover, is a 32-page brochure published by the company, also illustrated with full-page photos. Very scarce book, the only copy I have ever come across. The book is in the library of Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. This copy is ex-library, with a label affixed to the front endpaper designating this as a presentation copy gifted to the Plattsburgh State Normal School Library, the label signed by Linney. Library stamp and some small penciled library markings to title page, library reference number taped to bottom of spine, and a library checkout pouch inside back cover. Interior generally clean, though the binding is compromised - taped in both front and back and cracked by the title page, with one of the preliminary pages loose. Despite flaws, a very rare item, additionally signed and with the bonus publication on the company.
