Eight volumes, complete. Frontispiece to volume one. Finely bound in contemporary full tree calf, marbled endpapers. The spines are beautifully tooled with raised bands, rich gilt in compartments and contrasting red and black lettering pieces. Possibly rebacked in the later 19thc but it is difficult to tell it been so well done. The spines look contemporary with the boards. There are a few knocks and bruises, the corners are bumped and worn, but the joints and hinges are intact and this is a G-VG colid set looking most attractive on the shelves.
