Crawford and Andrew Hoyem printed interlinearly with the the Middle English text of the original poem, followed by a commentary. The Peal was composed in 14th century England and survived in a single manuscript, now held in the British Museum. The four illustrations from the original manuscript are here reproduced in full color by linoleum block process. A beautiful rendering of this medieval visionary poem.
