First edition in jacket, with an inscription by the poet to the collector and patron Albert Bender, with a verse quotation, dated "Tor House, Carmel, November, 1928". Wear to the jacket, with fading to the spine and loss to the head and corners. An early reader (Bender?) has left a line of poetry from the collection in pencil along the top edge of the front panel ("and here the heavy future hangs like a cloud", [Contrast, p143]). Boards protected by jacket, top edge stained blue, slightest toning to pages. 160pp. Laid in note presenting the book to a "Mrs Lilienthal", presumably from Bender, as it is written in German and references a childhood in Ireland.
