Red cloth Boards with yellow titles to spine and front board, 220 x 145 mm approx. 312 pp. Portrait frontis + 31 other b/w photos on 16 pp of glossy plates all as called for. First Edition 1959. NB The copy offered has the attribute of having the signatures of two of the prominent suffragettes under their respective photographs, namely Grace Roe and Mary Leigh. That of Mary Leigh also inscribed "no surrender". Leigh was a particularly militant member of the movement and on one occasion was found hiding in the organ at the Brighton Dome intending to interrupt Prime Minister Asquith's speech to be given at the venue.
