Facsimile volume in patterned blue cloth, gilt-blocked, together with the matching commentary volume bound in blue and light blue colored cloth and boards, printed paper label to front cover. Both volumes housed in the original blue cloth-covered solander box titled in gilt. Fine condition. A stunning copy. A Limited edition of 1180 copies, this is number 421. Printed by Beacon Press, Sussex on Furioso Paper and bound by Smith Settle, West Yorkshire in Full Silk brocade woven only for this edition by Stephen Walter and sons, Suffolk. Magnificent Folio Society facsimile of one of the most exquisite illuminated manuscripts of the late medieval period, held in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. The book was reproduced from the Fitzwilliam Book of Hours from the Fitzwilliam Museum MS 1058-1975. Reproduced in full color with meticulous fidelity to the original vellum leaves, the facsimile captures the brilliance of its miniatures and border decoration. The accompanying commentary volume by Stella Panayotova, Keeper of Manuscripts and Printed Books at the Fitzwilliam Museum, provides detailed analysis of the manuscript s production, iconography, and historical context, situating it within the flourishing of manuscript illumination in fifteenth-century Flanders.
