En français, sans texte auxiliaire en anglais. In French, not in English. This is a livre d'artiste. Gravures de Grau-Sala. Printed September 5, 1960, with typography by Pierre Bouchet and gravures by Manuel Robbe. Number 308 from a limited printing of 275 commercial copies, from a total run of 350 copies numbered in Arabic numerals and 25 hors-commerce numbered in Roman numerals. French wrappers over loose folded sheets of watermarked Rives paper. 138 numbered pages, as called for. Each page approx. 11 x 7.5 inches. Light foxing to the preliminaries. Occasional foxing to the internal pages; the gravures appear to be not much affected by foxing or spotting. Full-color frontispiece plus 14 double-page, full-color prints. The double-page prints approx. 11 x 15 inches. Most are protected by onion-skin tissue guards. Of special note is that the artist Grau-Sala, on the Justification du Tirage page, has drawn a woman's head in blue ink, signed by the artist and with the apparent date [19]62. This appears to be an original drawing executed two years after publication. The French wrappers and Rives sheets protected by a sturdy, off-white chemise, with the title in gilt to the spine; then inserted into a medium-duty slipcase. The slipcase covered in patterned paper, light gray on off-white. Slipcase with age-toning and with a 4 inch split at the top edge but holding fast. Altogether a copy in Very Good condition in a Very Good Chemise and a Good slipcase. 3 lbs. 4 oz. Emilio Grau Sala [1911-1975] was a Spanish painter. He studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Barcelona. With his wife Ángeles Santos Torroella he fled to Paris at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. He was a famous colorist (oil painting, watercolor and pastel) and illustrator. In the French Salon "Comparaisons", he was a member of the group of Maurice Boitel. Federico García Lorca [1898-1936] was an accomplished Spanish poet and playwright. He achieved international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of '27, and spent time in New York and in Cuba. He was murdered by Nationalist forces at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War in the vicinity of Granada, Spain. Cette edition a été achevée d' imprimer le 5 septembre 1960 par Pierre Bouchet pour la typographie et par Manuel Robbe pour les gravures. Bon état.
