First edition, second issue (including 8-page adverts). This copy is from the library of James H. Heineman (1917-1994), "the world's foremost collector of Wodehouse memorabilia" (Plum Lines). The White Feather was initially serialized in six parts between October 1905 to March 1906 for The Captain. Heineman's bookplate is a delightful homage to Wodehouse, featuring a plum (the author's nickname), a typewriter, a pair of glasses, a pipe, a roadster, a top hat, a scarf reading "Wooster", and a garland featuring references to places and characters from Wodehouse's novels. McIlvaine A8a (2). Plum Lines: The Quarterly Newsletter of the Wodehouse Society, vol. 15, no. 3, Autumn 1994. Octavo. Frontispiece with tissue guard, 11 plates by W. Townend. With pp. 4 of ads to rear. Original brown cloth, spine and front cover lettered and decorated in gilt, black, and white. Lacking front free endpaper. Ticket of R. Prentice to front pastedown. Spine lightly toned, slight rubbing and wear, including partial split to head of spine and rear joint. A good, sound copy.
