FIRST FRENCH EDITION 1786, first published in English under the title: Observations on the Properties and Effects of Coffee, London 1785. 12mo, approximately 160 x 100 mm, 6½ x 4 inches, pages: [5], vi-viii, [1], ii-xxv, [1], [2], 28-120, [4], includes half-title, privilege and errata at end, rebound at sometime in modern mottled leather, gilt lettered morocco title to spine, gilt rules to spine and gilt decoration to corners of covers, new marbled and cream endpapers. The only fault is a small closed tear to lower margin of page 105 just touching text, neatly repaired with no loss, occasional tiny fox spot, otherwise a very good clean attractive copy.
