880 pages + frontispiece and 8 illustrated plates. Undated, but presumably published in either late 1869 or early 1870 based upon the contents. The book is reasonably firmly bound in contemporary Victorian half-calf, with simple gilt decoration and red and black title labels to the spine, over marbled paper covered boards, with matching endpapers and marbling to all edges of the text block. The leather is rubbed, scuffed and chipped, becoming powdery, and the paper to the boards is slightly chipped, marked and age toned. The text block is slightly marked, foxed and age toned, with some pencil notes to the rear blank. A large volume containing the complete original 7-part serialisation of Le Fanu's Gothic tale, A Strange Adventure in the Life of Laura Mildmay, which would appear in book form in 1871 as part of the Chronicles of Golden Friars. It is quite uncommon in commerce.
