General Alexander Petrovich Bogaevsky (1872-1934) was one of the key commanders of the Volunteer Army during the Russian Civil War. His Memoirs of 1918 - "The Ice March" recount firsthand the grueling retreat of General Kornilov's forces through the Kuban steppe one of the defining episodes of the early White Army campaign.
