First edition, two volumes - xvi, 367pp; ix, 340pp, half title, illustrated with a frontispiece plate to volume I and woodcuts and photogravure plates (after A Thorburn and G E Lodge), folding linen-backed map at rear of volume II, small area of biopredation to half title of volume I, offsetting from a few of the plates and some foxing, pages are still nice and crisp, red silk markers, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, half red twentieth century crushed morocco and brown cloth, spine has raised bands, gilt lettering on brown leather and gilt silhouettes of birds.
