An association copy, inscribed to Kooser's good friend, the poet-novelist Jim Harrison: "For Lil Jimmy, from Ted, 7/26/08." An uncommon chapbook that prints a lecture Kooser gave at Emory & Henry College. Kooser was Poet Laureate from 2004-2006, and he won the Pulitzer while in that office, in 2005. A fantastic association as Kooser and Harrison were longtime friends and correspondents; their book Braided Creek: A Conversation in Poetry from Copper Canyon shares the haiku-like poetry they sent back and forth for years. In a recent anniversary edition of that book, poet Naomi Shihab Nye writes, "Braided Creek: A Conversation in Poetry is one of the dearest, most appealing books ever published. These poems are tiny delicious American haiku affectionately exchanged between two friends This slim volume acts as a palate-cleanser, a spirit-booster, a little rocket-ship of wonders." In 2001, Kooser also published the book Winter Morning Walks : 100 Postcards to Jim Harrison with Carnegie Mellon Press. Green textured paper wraps, staple bound, 24 pages. Near fine with a couple faint creases along spine and a spot of subtle soiling to lower rear wrap .
