Early Draft script for the pilot episode of the 2024 Amazon Prime television series, written eight years before the series premiere by screenwriters Roger Kumble, Jordan Ross, and Lindsey Rosin. From the archive of crew member Chris Scher, with Scher's name watermarked on each page. The pilot episode was released as "Cruel Intentions: Alpha" on Amazon Prime on November 21, 2024 with a screenplay by Phoebe Fisher. Ross and Rosin did not receive a screenwriting credit on the final release and Kumble only as the source film for the series. Based on the 1999 film by co-screenwriter Kumble, which was a contemporary re-telling of the 1782 novel "Les Liaisons dangereuses" by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. Two step siblings at Manchester College have worked hard at climbing the Greek life social ladder on campus, and after a hazing incident goes wrong, they try to seduce the Vice President's daughter to join their sorority. Kumble's 1999 film was the fifth feature film adaptation of de Laclos' novel, including Stephen Frear's 1988 film "Dangerous Liaisons" and Milo Forman's 1989 film "Valmont." Chris Scher has worked in American films from 1994 to the present. She was a propmaker, construction accountant/estimator/buyer, and carpenter on over 20 movies, including "The Last Seduction" (1994), "Pulp Fiction" (1994), "From Dusk Till Dawn" (1994), "The Horse Whisperer (1998), "Joy Ride" (2001), and others. She also performed the same work for prestige television dramas, including "The Bridge" (2014), "Ozark" (2017), and "Yellowstone" (2018). Set in the fictional Manchester College in Washington DC.
