It was early December when Samuel and Samantha, two plush ducklings, began getting ready for Christmas. The preparatios were elaborate. There was all the cleaning, the cooking, the decorating and, last but not least, the PRESENTS. Samuel was building a wonderful surprise for Samantha. He worked so hard planning and making the surprise, and then a dreadful thing happened and Samantha almost had no surprise! Here is a Christmas tale with all the right trimmings--the busy holidays filled with suspense, the loveable ducklings and their many happy friends and in the end, of course, a party. This is Bethany Tudor's second book. Her first story about the little plush ducklings, Gooseberry Lane, was published in 1963. Ever since she was a very small child, she has drawn pictures and loved small animals---whether plush or real. She lives on a New Hampshsire Farm with her mother, Tasha Tudor, and two brothers and a sister, not to mention many varieties of animals who have been her models as well as her friendsl. Miss Tudor has studied art with her mother and in Boston. She brings to her writing and illustrations not only youthful freshness but real talent.
