The Bubble Books, also known as The Harper-Columbia Book That Sings, were a series of innovative children's books published by Harper & Brothers in partnership with the Columbia Graphophone Company, beginning in 1917. They are considered the first commercial publication to combine a book with phonograph records, featuring nursery rhymes that could be read while being played on a 78 rpm record player. Each book measured about 6 by 7 inches and contained colorful illustrations by Rhoda Chase. Sleeves were built directly into three of the book's pages to hold the miniature 78 rpm records. The lyrics for each song were printed alongside illustrations of the characters and story. In this copy of the Eleventh Bubble Book, "The Tippy-Toe", songs included "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse", "Tabbyskins", and "Old Mother Hubbard", played on three small 5.5" records nestled within their respective sleeves throughout.
