[++] There is an old vertical fold through the publication. Also there is an old half-faded rubber stamp on the upper right corner of the front wrapper for one of the printers (Westermann, NYC) and dated April 8 1878. The American Journal of Mathematics was founded in 1878 by the English mathematician J. J. Sylvester served as its first editor-in-chief as part of his effort to build the American mathematics community.
