You are viewing our reproduction of a 3 tier hanging plate drying rack, originally used throughout the 18th & nineteenth centuries in England & the United States. We found the original of this one in an early Dutch stone house near the village of Stone Ridge, New York. An imposing piece that's sure to be a focal point in any kitchen or dining room. Made of Pine, pictured in Pewter, Sage Green, Black, Barn Red & Cream. The approximate measurements are as follows: Height - 42" Width - 26" Depth - 11" The top two shelves are about 9 1/4" deep - 11 1/8" in clear. The middle shelf is about 7" deep - 9" in clear. The bottom shelf is about 5 1/2" deep - 8" in clear. PLEASE NOTE: All measurements can be adjusted to suit your needs. We also offer the option of cup hooks - 6 or 8. Racks like this were originally used throughout the 18th, 19th & early 20th centuries in England & the United States. We have been reproducing plate racks since 1993, increasing our styles & offerings, but never changing our methods. We build our racks just like they did 200 years ago - to be used on a daily basis, laden with dishes & such. 1. We install an integral hanging brace at the back of the plate rack under the top shelf. 2. All of our shelves are cut in, not tacked to the side panels, which in essence, makes the rack a solid crate. The combination of these two details allow for weight disbursement & stability even if the rack is hung unevenly. Ensuring longevity & dependability; just like the ones made so many years ago. We hand pick all our wood for character & stability & take great care in our distressing/antiquing process so that our pieces turn out exactly as planned are aesthetically 'Primitive'.
