This handcrafted apron features a traditional Japanese design from Bushu an area formerly known by that name during the Edo to Meiji periods. Located in present-day Saitama Japan this region has long been known for cultivating indigo (natural blue dye) and cotton-perfect conditions for creating durable and beautiful textiles. The fabric is dyed using the Bushu Nama-Aizome technique the only authentic production method of kendo uniform fabric still practiced in Japan today. Nama-Aizome means raw indigo dyeing and it uses natural dyes and a traditional method known as "Kase-zome" where cotton threads are bundled and repeatedly dipped squeezed and loosened by hand to absorb the dye deeply and evenly. This meticulous process takes about three months resulting in a rich deep indigo color and a densely woven highly durable fabric. Originally used for martial arts uniforms due to its strength and breathability this same quality now enhances this unique and stylish apron. This special edition also features a 60th Anniversary logo with a Japanese fan (sensu) motif symbolizing celebration tradition and good fortune. Whether you re a chef artist or craftsperson this apron brings a piece of Japanese heritage into your daily life.
