Remington Model 1100 12 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun 28" Mod 1974 Higher-Grade Field Engraved WalnutItem Description:For sale is a Remington Model 1100 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun with serial number M061309V. This example was manufactured in 1974, as indicated by the "M" prefix on the receiver (Remington used the "M" prefix for Model 1100 production in 1974, following the "L" prefix that began in 1968). The "V" suffix denotes the standard 12-gauge 2 3/4" receiver frame.Specifications:Gauge: 12Chamber: 2 3/4" shells onlyBarrel: 28" ventilated rib with fixed Modified choke (stamped "MOD" on left side)Action: Gas-operated semi-automaticCapacity: 4+1Sights: Bead front sightFinish: Blued receiver and barrel with factory scroll/floral engraving on both sides of the receiver and boltStock: American walnut with cut fleur-de-lis/floral checkering on forend and pistol grip; black diamond grip cap; vented black Remington recoil padForend: Matching walnut with cut checkering and knurled metal capThis is a higher-grade Field model featuring upgraded engraving, fancy walnut, and cut checkering typical of enhanced 1970s 1100 Field configurations. It is not a Sportsman, Magnum, Skeet, Trap, or Custom Shop special edition. The barrel displays standard Remington factory proof and inspection marks on the right side, including G in a triangle (Magnaflux), J (inspector mark), and REP in oval (Remington proof mark). No barrel date code is present, which is common when a barrel has been replaced over the life of these interchangeable-barrel shotguns (the receiver serial number provides the primary manufacture year).Condition:The shotgun is in honest field-used condition with visible patina consistent with its age. The blued finish shows light surface rust freckling/spotting that can be addressed with gun oil and fine (0000-grade) steel wool. The bore is bright and reflective. Wood retains good color and gloss with minor handling marks. No major cracks, dents, or damage noted. The gun is mechanically sound based on visual inspection. This shotgun is sold as pictured only, with no additional accessories or original box. As with any used firearm, it should be inspected by a licensed gunsmith prior to firing.A reliable and soft-shooting classic from Remington's golden era of semi-automatic shotguns.
