Reedition du Livre de Prophèties de Nostradamus Torne-Chavigny H [Very Good] [Hardcover]

For serious Nostradamus collectors. A remarkable and unique book about Nostradamus, due to its ownership and extensive notations by the great Nostradamus collector and researcher Abbé Hector Rigaux, curé of Argoeuvre , as well as its later ownership by occult writer Fred Gettings. This actual unique copy was sold at auction in the US (presumably to Gettings himself) by Swann Auctions in 2007 for $900USD (provenance available on request). We purchased it via a UK auction of the late Gettings' books in 2024. The US auction sold other books which had been in Rigaux's library but none as far as we can tell with the richness of hand-written notes and personalisation we have here. Several hundred pages had been deliberately left blank in this 1862 edition and have been completely filled by the Abbé's neat handrwitten notes, we can assume as part of his research on Nostradamus. Photos show a glimpse of the book but it's hard to show its uniqueness: we show, for example, just one page of his handwritten notes but there are several hundred others. As well as his notes, the book contains the Abbé's bookplate, stamp, ownership inscription, and some in-text annotations. There are a few small clippings of newspaper pasted in, presumably again by the Abbé. Very thick book, contemporary morocco, raised bands and extremities rubbed. This is a unique book due its connection with Gettings and - more so- its intimate personalisation by one of the great Nostradamus collectors and writers.
