First Edition (NAP). First US Edition. The book is in collectible condition. You can see the covers in the photos. There is no soiling. The lettering on the spine is nicely bright. The spine ends have only the slightest bit of crinkling, the bottom one has a sliver of color fade. The cover edges are in excellent condition, no rubbing. The same is the case for the four cover corners. The top page edge has an orange topstain. It looks very good. The middle and bottom page edges or very clean. The book is square and the spine looks straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in terrific condition. I turned over every page. I didn't find any instances of soiling. I didn't find any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. The inside covers and end papers are orange. They are perfectly clean and free of wear. I've rated the book Near Fine. I'm a little uncomfortable with the condition rating 'Fine', equating it with perfect. But this one comes pretty close. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. I'm rating it Very Good, a pretty strong Very Good taking into account that the book was published in 1963. The jacket doesn't have any conspicuous soiling, just a few light spots on the rear. However, adjacent to the spine there is toning. There isn't any foxing to be found either on the jacket or anywhere in the book. There's little bit of rubbing off the top edge of the spine. The flaps are very clean. There are no tears. There two tiny nicks at the top edge of the front flap, also a small and very thin, light crease below the letter 'P' in Planet. The jacket is NOT price-clipped ($4.50), not clipped at all. I have always had it in a fitted protective cover. 'La Planete des singes, published in English as Planet of the Apes in the U.S. and Monkey Planet in the UK, is a 1963 science fiction novel by French author Pierre Boulle. It was adapted into the 1968 film Planet of the Apes, launching the Planet of the Apes media franchise. The novel tells the tale of three human explorers from Earth who visit a planet orbiting the star Betelgeuse, in which great apes are the dominant intelligent and civilized species, whereas humans are reduced to a savage animal-like state. The novel was published in France in 1963 by Éditions Julliard. The first English language version, with a translation by Xan Fielding, was published in the United States by Vanguard Press in June 1963 under the title Planet of the Apes. In January 1964, it was published in the United Kingdom as Monkey Planet by Secker & Warburg of London, then re-issued as Planet of the Apes in August 1973 to tie it in to the film franchise it inspired.'
