CONDITION: There are 3 vols present. Vol. 3 is missing the back board. All the other boards have some cracking to the leather and there are hints of light glue, all boards may be detached at time of shipping (very weak). The back endpapers of volume 3 has some chips along the edge. There are really minor splits to the very edge of the back endpapers in volume 2. There is a stray signature in a couple of places written in ink from 1891 (Edith Pruser). A couple of the engravings have slight notations of the place they were done (possibly from Cox). Books are without other marks or writings, pages are clean and book is tight and sturdy. All the pages are present in book. Books may have been rebound with the extra illustrations inserted personally.Overall even with the missing board of volume 3, books are: Good/None dust jacket as issued. BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION: There is a cabinet portrait done in Stockholm of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Cox (frontispiece) : assume this is their writing beneath ( see photo) and across from the cabinet portrait affixed to the gutter is a card containing the 'Compliments of Mr. & Mrs. S. S. Cox - New York - April 1882'. 1-Samuel Sullivan ""Sunset"" Cox was an American Congressman and diplomat. He represented both Ohio and New York in the United States House of Representatives, and also served as United States Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire (Wikipedia). Engravings throughout that have possibly never been seen, and there is also a color photo in volume 2 (can't make out writing on bottom).
