Reibel. Fine book, with a slight bump to top edge of front board; fine unclipped dust jacket. Overall, a lovely multi-signed copy. In this book, ""journalist Rob Rains draws from interviews with past and current players, research in contemporary sources and at the Baseball Hall of Fame, and from the team archives, to bring 100 years of Cardinals baseball to life."" Stan ""The Man"" Musial is the greatest St. Louis Cardinal of all-time, spending his entire 22-year career with the team (1941 - 1944, 1946-1963), and one of the greatest hitters in MLB history. Early in his career, he helped form a dynasty in St. Louis alongside Enos Slaughter and led the team to three World Series titles in five years (1942, 1944, 1946). Some of his career highlights include 24 All-Star game selections (tied for second all-time), 3 NL MVP awards, and 7 NL batting titles. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. Bob Gibson pitched for the Cardinals for seventeen years, picking up nine Gold Glove Awards and nine All-Star selections along the way. He was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1981 and selected for the prestigious All-Century Team in 1999. Ozzie Smith, with the excellent nickname ""The Wizard of Oz,"" was an all-time great shortstop who earned 15 All-Star selections and won the Gold Glove award for thirteen straight seasons (1980-1992). Hall of Fame manager Whitey Herzog said of Smith, ""He made more diving catches than I've ever seen. I don't see how it was possible to play (shortstop) any better than Ozzie played it."" Smith was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.
