PRESENT: the three frontispieces; Map of the Northern Provinces [at end of vol. IV instead of I]; Map of the Southern Provinces [at end of vol. I, and again at end of IV]; vignette of the Elm Tree; Map of the country from Rariton River in East Jersey; Siege of Charleston; Boston and its environs; Investment and attack of York in Virginia. LACKING: Map of part of Rhode Island; Plan of the country from Frogs Point to Cotton River; Plan of New York Island; Map of those parts of Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia; Plan of the northern part of New Jersey; The scene of operations of the Northern army. The six maps lacking appear not to have been bound in: the only evidence of excision is at the end of vol. I where the stub of the Map of the Northern Provinces is clearly visible. Quarter leather, marbled boards and edges rubbed. Textblock edges and endpapers marbled. Occasional light foxing (more so to plates) and toning, but generally tidy interiors. 20th century signature/date/place to first blank leaf of vol. V. Each binding is sound. 8.6 x 5.25 inches.
