Only fifty-eight names appear in the List of Subscribers, so although the publication is not limited per se, the production run must have been small, perhaps as few as 100 copies. Extremely uncommon early book on golf, only six books on the subject had been published prior to 1867. Beautiful production, all page edges gilt, bevel-edged boards, textured cloth, gilt cover decoration of a group of long-nosed clubs, identical decoration sans gilt (as issued) on rear cover. Covers in very good condition with the little signs of wear limited to corner tips and spine ends, no marks or stains. Pastedowns with slight tanning and soiling, hinges reinforced. One page has a tanned spot on the lower portion not affecting the text, and four pages have finger smudges on the edge, pages otherwise clean and bright, no creases, folds, or tears.
