The publication was conceived and designed under Matisse s supervision and reflects his lifelong fascination with the art of portraiture. Printed on vélin d Arches paper, this edition was limited to 2,850 numbered copies. The volume retains its original lithographic wrappers designed by Matisse. Loose as issued, wraps with glassine jacket, hard chemise.
