(1953) Vintage~"Pierre Jolie Madame Eau De Toilette Balmain" 3.0 Oz. (50% Full) Spray Mist Perfume. This perfume was made in France. Jolie Madame by Pierre Balmain is a leather fragrance for women. The nose behind this fragrance is Germaine Cellier. The top notes are artemisia, coriander, gardenia, neroli, bergamot, petitgrain & cloves. The middle notes are tuberose, narcissus, orris root, jasmine, rose, orange blossom, violet leaf & lilac. The base notes are leather, patchouli, musk, coconut, civet, oakmoss, vetiver, cedar & tobacco. Jolie Madame opens with a violet note of green, powdery perfection. It is bolstered by aromatic, herbal green notes, notably green petitgrain & bittersweet artemisia. Then it has some soft citrus notes, led by neroli, provide a counterpoint, while some peppery spice gives it a lift. This perfume is a a retro-style floral heart develops, powdery & rich, yet soft & well-rounded. The rose blooms on your skin, while orris root enhances the powdery violet. Then, a soft white floral accord emerges, powdery & sweet. The Polleny lilac is also present, & narcissus rounds it out, adding floral smokiness. The floral heart is somehow mysterious & dark, despite being a bouquet made up of typical floral notes. As it dries down, the fabled leather accord emerges, intertwined with the floral notes. The violet gives way to a suede-like leather note, enhanced to perfection by a smoky animalic accord. It also has a mossy, woody & earthy, then it becomes a beautiful leather chypre, thanks to the oakmoss & patchouli notes. It fades to a musky, slightly animalic suede accord. I tested a small amount on my wrist & it's strong & heavy scent. It's still smells so beautiful & excellent This perfume is 60 years old & will absolutely NOT smell like it originally did all those years ago. The older the perfume, the less it may smell like what you may remember. If you are looking to buy fresh smelling perfume, you may not want to buy vintage.
