Please look at my measurements & then MEASURE your child. They have two layers of minky - inside & outside, so they are SUPER cozy on the inside where you want them to be. The length is measured from the top to the bottom of the tail (not including the fin). They are meant to go up to the chin, so if you only want it to go to child's waist, then size down. Toddler - ~2 years to ~3 years: length - 40" opening - 16" (32" all the way around) Child - ~4-8 years: length - 50" opening - 20" (40" all the way around) Pre-teen: length - 60" opening - 25" (50" all the way around) Teen: length - 70" opening - 26-30 (50"-60" all the way around) Adult: length - 75" opening - 26-30" (50-60" all the way around) Adult long: length - 85" opening 26-30" (50-60" all the way around) Washing instructions: Wash normal, dry on low or no heat.
